The Sun Trip 2013

On Sunday, June 16 2013, 35 adventurers left from the Col du Petit Saint Bernard for a competitive ride of about 7500 km to Astana in Kazakhstan. The special feature is that all participating teams will be riding "bikes" with electrical assistance, of which the batteries are charged by solar energy. That solar energy is derived from panels mounted on the bike or on a trailer.

Of course, it is important to arrive in Astana as quickly as possible. But the team, which uses exclusively solar energy for charging the batteries, wins the battle.
There is also a competition for the best weblog.

There are two teams on a Nazca recumbent: Angelique and Guillaume from team Declic Éco on a tandem Quetzal and Stéphane Bertrand on a Pioneer.
They may be followed on their blog and through the website of The Sun Trip.

Nazca Ligfietsen wish Angelique, Guillaume and Stéphane good luck with this exciting course!

Here some nice video's about Stéphane and Angelique and Guillaume.

Meanwhile, all three arrived at a shared fifth place! Congratulations! (photo Florian Bailly, The Sun Trip)
