The Pioneer has become a genuine classic, both on the Dutch market as well as far beyond. This bicycle has seen all the continents of the world and made many long journeys.

The riding behaviour is quiet and predictable because of the large 26 inch wheels, while the chrome-Molybdenum steel frame and rear suspension make this bike very comfortable and extremely reliable.  Improvements have been implemented consistently, making the Pioneer 2011 model a fully developed high recumbent with great value for money!

Suitable for riders taller than 1.75 m. The limitation of the Pioneer for short riders is generally not so much the height of the seat but the space between the pedals and the front wheel.

Technical details

Many people see the Pioneer with under-seat steering as the ultimate recumbent for travelling, optimally suited for long tours with lots of luggage where the journey sometimes keeps going even when the asphalt stops. The under-seat steering provides a relaxed arm position and an unobstructed forward view.

The under-seat steering operates indirectly (with a steering rod as a connection between under-steering and front fork) which provides an optimal steering position and also means the under-steering is not in the way when you get on or off the bicycle. Large banana bags and bags attached to lowrider mounts are no problem, because the indirect under-steering makes the turning cycle small.

Technical details

The Pioneer version with aero handlebars steers very steadily and accurately. This type of handlebar gives the best control of a bike with a heavy load. The rider’s posture is very relaxed while riding, because the length and height of the handlebars can be adjusted to the rider.

The turning circle is slightly larger because of the aero handlebars, but once they have gotten used to it, most riders don’t have any trouble with it.

The aluminium aero handlebars are adjustable both in length and height.
